MAC ARNOLD

Mac Arnold is a South Carolina–born blues bassist, bandleader, and recording artist whose career spans the golden era of Chicago blues, early television music production, and today’s American roots revival. Arnold began his professional journey in the 1960s after moving to Chicago, where he quickly became part of the city’s legendary blues scene. He performed and recorded with iconic artists including Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, and A.C. Reed, helping shape the driving electric blues sound that defined a generation. In the early 1970s, Arnold relocated to Los Angeles, where he expanded into studio and television work. During this period, he contributed to music and production environments tied to landmark entertainment programs, including the early years of Soul Train, while continuing to work in professional recording sessions across the industry.

After stepping away from the music business for a time, Arnold returned with renewed purpose, forming Mac Arnold and Plate Full O’ Blues. The band reflects his lifelong mission to preserve traditional blues while delivering it with energy, humor, and deep Southern soul. Their sound blends Chicago blues grit with groove-driven R&B and an unmistakable storytelling spirit.

Today, Mac Arnold remains an active performer and cultural ambassador of the blues, bringing decades of lived experience onstage and connecting new generations to the roots of American music.
